HA XG-2758 - SFP Question
-
Hello,
I am looking at the XG-2758 HA Model https://store.pfsense.org/XG-2758-HA.aspx and trying to understand exactly how many SFP ports it comes with PER SYSTEM (note: SFP not SFP+).
Any idea?
Attached is a closer look at the front panel and I see one port marked as SFP, but it also connects to one of the other ports marked as IGB1. Does it mean the IGB1 can also be used as SFP?
I will need to use the SFP ports for 1G uplink to Cisco L3 switches and like to know exactly how many SFP connections I can utilize PER SYSTEM in the HA environment.
Thanks.

igb1 can be either copper or SFP. Plus the two SFP+ ports, so three.
2x 10GbE SFP+
3x Intel 1GbE
1x Intel 1GbE RJ-45/SFP2x 10Gb Ethernet SFP+ via Intel 82599 Niantic
4x 1 Gb Ethernet RJ45 via Intel i354 on-chip; one port configurable as RJ45 or SFP -

If I want to make use of 1xigb1 as SFP then do I buy the same transceiver as the one that I would install it on the existing SFP port? I am trying to understand how that igb1 port can be used for RJ45 (copper) or SFP? Aren't those two connector types?

It's what's called a "shared port." igb1 can have either the SFP or the RJ45 active. Pretty common. Lots of switches work the same way, for instance.
There are 6 ports.
Two SFP+ (ix0, ix1)
Three Gigabit Copper (igb0, igb2, igb3)
One shared SFP or Copper (igb1)2 + 3 + 1 = 6
Not sure what to tell you about which modules to get. Probably the ones you can add to the order would be a good place to start.
