As the title says IPV4 pings to its gateway are blocked, which is of no consequence other than the dpinger gateway monitoring flagging it. Is dpinger required functionality and if not how would I permanently disable it?

It's not required but it is useful.

In Sys > Routing > Gateway edit the WAN gateway.

You can set a different external IP to ping for monitoring there. And you can disable it if you wish.

@jcyr Personally, I would use the functionality of having dpinger ping something outside of your local ISP - Perhaps an anycast address of 8.8.8.8 for example. The feature has helped me diagnose connectivity issues at one of my sites. Packet loss + spikes in latency. Turned out to be a cable modem problem but it was great having stats for that because im doing gateway monitoring. Just a thought.

That and ISPs often treat regular pings as a DoS attack resulting in marking the gateway as down.
