      In 2019 I bought a SG-1100 for deployment in a sporting center. Corona struck and I moved, and all things led to me installing it just now.
      I see reboots about average 45 minutes without cause in the logs. I have a lot of (good) experience with Netgate firewalls, having deployed almost a dozen, and this is new for me. Googling I found something about a hardware issue in 2019 SG-1100's, and recalls or so. Could someone contact me on how I confirm this is my issue and if so how to fix?

      Serial number is NTG1910001929

        @sater1957 I'm afraid the issue is related to hardware age and isn't fixable.

        You can definitely reinstall 22.05 and format the eMMC as ZFS and that will help the side-effects of the reboots but the device itself is long out of warranty repair at this point in time.

        To get the pfSense Plus image for any Netgate-branded device (excluding APUs) from 2014-present please go to https://go.netgate.com/

          @rcoleman-netgate This would be very unfortunate. Strange as it is we just started using the device. You mentioned hardware age, but a three year old firewall is hardly old.
          Anyhow, what could reinstalling and ZFS'ing do? Would it stop rebooting, or reboot less often?

          An extra problem I have is that this is very far away, and reinstalling and ZFS'ing is probably too much for local staff.

            @sater1957 I'm sorry you're experiencing this.

            Reinstalling with ZFS will alleviate the boot loops that can occur in UFS when the system abruptly loses state and restarts. It's not a panacea but may give you greater stability.

            As with any system we recommend regular backups of your configuration so that if you have to reinstall in the future it will be easier to re-image the device and restore your configuration.

              @rcoleman-netgate If the system becomes more stable I might set it up as a development system, but for sure it cannot be the primary firewall then. I will discuss with the organisation it currently serves(or does not serve)

                @rcoleman-netgate Is this problem fixed in current SG-1100's? To get this site up and running stable quickly I might have to buy another one.

                  @rcoleman-netgate Ok, backup is no issue. Suppose I would buy another SG-1100 and have it shipped to the remote location, is the system shipped with ZFS enabled? Because I already briefed them on how to restore the backup and swap hardware, but running through ZFS installation might be too much for them.

                    Yes.

                    It is not a symptom on the hardware we are selling today.

                    That is worth that's what I'd do.
                    FWIW the ZFS step in the reinstall is just pressing enter one more time -- but replacing the hardware is a better choice. Set the 1100 with the reboot issue aside for a temporary replacement in the future.
