Need help with XG-7100 SFP for a LR Fiber connect
-
I have a XG-7100, I need a compatible 1G SFP for a Single mode Fiber connection going 29+ KM (18.1 Miles) I tried using a Cisco SFP with no luck.
-
@striker495 i've had success with generic SFP+ modules from FS.com but the official compatible list is here: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100-1u/io-ports.html#compatible-sfp-sfp-modules

What was the result with the Cisco module? Not detected in the NIC? No link?
-
The link looked up but the speed would not negotiate with RTpause, TXpause. the other side could not pull a MAC address.

The 7100 ix SFP+ ports do not support link speed negotiation. If you use a module that is dual-speed capable it must be set at 1G to link at 1G.
If the module is shown and data from it can be read by the NIC then as long as it's seeing level from the remote side it may be possible to make it work.
