2100 firmware upgrade?
-
Hi,
been running my 2100 for a while now and thought I'd attend to its firmware. But how do I upgrade this? In the doc's it says that "select models" have this "feature". Really? Please enlighten me, thanks. -
It's in the manual.
See here pfSense Documentation.First have a look at what is upgrading all about, and then read the specific "2100" upgrade pages.
Then, get an USB drive.
Formulate your demand on the pfSense TAC web page - wait one minute, check your mail, download the firmware, burn it to the USB key, etc etc. -

I have searched but really do not find the 2100 mentioned other than in the "quick/getting started" guide, which is not mentioning anything about the firmware, only how to reinstall pfSense. Is there a specific "2100 upgrade" section mentioning the firmware (as in bios or similar for the Netgear appliance itself)?
Found it. And it seems psSense is actually being called "firmware"... That clarifies my confusion, but are no closer to how to upgrade the Netgate 2100 bios/firmware.

Upgrading can be done using the GUI. It's a matter of click click click wait ....... and done.
It works pretty well, although some conditions apply, like 'do not upgrade from an ancient version".Re instaling is nearly the same thing, and has it s won advantage.
You have a ,ew clan system.
If you didn't use it yet, you can now choose to use ZFS if you do not have that already.@furom said in 2100 firmware upgrade?:

Yeah, I know.
That's because upgrading routers was always a question of burning ROMs (jtag cables, and I don't know what) etc in the past.
These days, pfSense use also classic disk drives, its a classic OS like any other PC type device. -

The 'BIOS' used by the 2100 is uboot. That can be upgraded at the same time a pfSense upgrade is run if it's required. However at this time there have been no uboot updates for the 2100. Nothing is required.
