      Hi,

I have a Netgate XG-1541 with PFSense 22.05-RELEASE installed. OS is installed with ZFS.

I have a 480GB SSD drive I want to install to use as a cache drive with Suid. I previously did this a few years ago but used Filesystem UFS.

My quesiton is, should I be making the Cache drive ZFS like the OS or stick with my previous setup of UFS for the Squid Cache drive?

Also any any updated instructions to setup the file system would be a bonus.

      Thanks

pfSense does not support multiple drives like that directly. So anything you do here will be an unsupported configuration, it may break at firmware upgrade etc.

However it's probably easier to use UFS for this especially if you had already done that previously. Much of the advantage of ZFS doesn't really apply to a drive being used only as a cache anyway.

@zatco Honestly if you are using ZFS on the boot drive, I'd just make the boot drive larger and use it. Depending how your boot drives are configured and if you have autoexpand enabled, you could increase the storage size of the pool. Or just re-install pfSense on the larger drive.
