Upgrades still working as expected for me here. No change since I last tested it. Which is as expected since nothing has changed there.

Thanks for testing for me. Tonight I'll try again. I'm going to do a fresh install of 2.6 to plus to dev.

I updated successfully last night from 2.6 to plus 22.01 to 22.05 to 23.01 no problem.
Restored a test config containing haproxy and a few other apps to 23.01 and worked successfully.
No switch or script needed once on 23.01

Any new news on when the RC will be? I'm gonna chalk up to the night before upgrade issues maybe some type of network issue. Thanks again for testing the upgrade for me.

                'Real soon now' 😉

No way to know for sure. There are still a few things we need to iron out before we can build an RC. But not many.

                  @yellowrain 23.01 upgrade success :
                  -GUI feels snappier
                  -Upload speed improved ;)

                  23.01-BETA (amd64)
built on Fri Jan 06 06:04:43 UTC 2023
                  FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT

                  Had to :
                  -reverse to 22.05 branch,
                  -"pkg-static clean -ay; pkg-static install -fy pkg pfSense-repo pfSense-upgrade" (https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html),
                  -switch to 23.01 DEVEL
                  -upgrade.

                    Thanks @stephenw10,

One thing I wanted to let you know in my testing on my test machine their was an issue with the realktec re0 driver. On pfsense 22.05 default config out of the box my speed tests show proper up/down speeds for my isp connection. After upgrading to 23.01 my upload speeds suffer significantly. Here is a screen shot:
                    WAN - re0
                    LAN - em0

Hmm, you see any errors on the interface?

                            @chickendog did it work?
Says one of the files can't be found, and fails for me.

My guess is their was a driver change in freebsd 14?

@chickendog ignore my previous post. I did have a failure from the cli, but it seems to have resolved.
                                Now I have this weirdness:

                                23.05-DEVELOPMENT (amd64)
built on Mon Jan 09 06:04:59 UTC 2023
                                FreeBSD 14.0-CURRENT

The system is on a later version than official release.
Version information updated at Mon Jan 9 8:19:14 EST 2023

@mtarbox Yeah I didn't try update, seemed too scary to go from 23.01 Beta to 23.05 Alpha.
Was scared a dev committed the wrong thing accidentally 😬

Is 20230109-0600 the RC release? My pfsense update page is still showing 23.01.b.20230106.0600 as the latest dev

The branch only just happened so at this point 23.05a is almost identical to 23.01. BUT you don't want to be on that branch because downgrading is far more difficult so I would wait until you see 23.01r (RC) offered. Which should be shortly.

(If you are running ZFS of course you can just roll back the BE)

@stephenw10 well of course I jumped on that sword.
Everything seemed fine when I left the house this morning, and I haven't had any angry texts yet today.
