I have two WAN connections in a single pfSense box. How do I route traffic out WAN2 over the internet to come in on WAN1? I am hosting a web site on WAN1 but would like to use WAN2 to perform real world tests on it.

I tried setting up a rule on the LAN interface when the destination is the WAN1 address to use WAN2 as a custom gateway but this did not work. I see the state count increment on the rule so it is hitting the rule but traffic still uses the local route from the route table.

That's not possible. A destination IP on the same device will never be routed out.

Fire up a wifi hot spot on your phone and connect a Laptop to it to test access from the internet.

Using a phone hotspot doesn't work for my use case.

I was really hoping there would be a way to make pfSense obey the firewall rule to route out the specified gateway.
