Is this the latest RC version? System 23.01.b.20230106.0600

Hi,
I just jumped on the 23.01b line.
I'm wondering if I have the RC version installed, since in der number it still says "b" like Beta.Regards,

Follow-up to your question, what is the correct daily snapshot. Yesterday it was the release candidate and not the beta. The RC seams to be missing today.
When checking for any updates I get this:
Current Base System23.01.r.20230108.1514
Latest Base System23.01.b.20230106.0600
StatusRunning a newer version. -
@gauthig thanks for the information.
Then Netgate needs to tell us, why we are not seeing 23.01.r.20230108.1514 any more and when it will be fixed, so we can test with the release candidates.

It's not really an RC yet. We are testing it internally before releasing the RC builds and calling them such. We want what we tag as an RC to actually be an RC, not just "late beta".
A few people happened to get before it was ready, but that was rolled back. Once we finish some last-minute tweaks and fixes, then clear it internally after more tests, it'll be available. There will be a blog post and so on when it's ready for further public testing.

@jimp When it's released, can we change the update settings back to release channel?

It will be a separate branch at RC specifically for 23.01, not the current devel branch people are on now (which will start following 23.05).
It wouldn't be offered as a "release" upgrade until it's actually released, but do be aware you'll need to pick the 23.01 branch to change from dev snapshots (tracking the plus devel branch) to rc builds (tracking the plus 23.01 branch)

Thanks so much @jimp for the update.
I know a lot of users are excited including myself about the RC release. I was hoping to test it this weekend but it looks like its not quite their yet.
Just so I understand correctly their will be a separate branch for the RC build? And which build will you need to be on to have the RC build visible. Thanks again -
Ideally you'll be able to get to the RC from wherever you were before (22.05, earlier 23.01 dev snapshots, etc). The only place you wouldn't be able to get to the RC from is a 23.05 dev snapshot since that would be past the RC and you can't downgrade.
-
So for pfsense plus we can only go to the dev version 23.01.b.20230106.0600? But the installer images for 2.7 are getting daily updates. Unless there is an issue on my test box as it says the 0106 version is the latest.

Until we put out the RC build, you won't see any new Plus snapshots for 23.01. We may turn the 23.05 snapshots back on, but be careful you do not update to one of those.
We're only working on the Plus 23.01 RC/release process now, and 2.7.0 is still just "development", so its snapshots are continuing as usual. As we prepare and move the top of tree on the Plus side to 23.05 those will also resume daily snapshots.

Got it. Thanks so much for the clarification.
-
@jimp any chances we will see a RC version before the weekend?
-
I'm a little concerned myself at this point. I thought the RC was gonna drop any day now from a couple of weeks ago. Any news on an ETA or if they plan to push the release to February?
Thanks -
We have been mopping up some release blocking hardware issues but it's in decent shape now. We'll have news very soon!
-
Wooooo hoooo!!!
-
@jimp Any News? ;-)
