Adding ssh authorizedkeys via script

Hello,
i would like to insert an ssh authorizedkey via php script executed at first boot, i'm trying to use config.inc, i've been able to pupulate the correct field however it's not working.
I tried inserting the key from web interface and checking in config file it is being written in another format, so the issue is there, do you have any idea on how to accomplish this?
