      Dear Teams ,

Would like to confirm about my few concern before i purchase a new workstation for my pfsense migration purpose .

      1. Will it confirm no issues i export out the current configuration xml and restore at new pfsense pfSense-CE-2.6.0 community edition ? base on the research i found , it is possible but anything that i need to take extra care which setting i need to recheck and reconfigure ?

      reference
      https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/backup/restore-different-version.html

      1. It is pfsense doesn't really work well in vmware workstation 16 plater or vmware vsphere ? as i am doing my testing using vmware , but seem like i hit many random and does not work in well , it was advise to install pfsense using a workstation instead of vmware ???

Appreciate if could provide some positive feedback to me .

You can take an older configuration and restore it to a newer install, that shouldn't be a problem. To be safe, if you have any packages installed, I would uninstall all packages before taking the backup and then install them again manually after the restore process completes.

pfSense works OK in VMWare, but sometimes you have to make sure to have the correct version of FreeBSD selected in the OS settings and also make sure that the VM hardware version is upgraded as far as possible. For example, some older versions of workstation or ESXi don't support FreeBSD 12.x. You'll have to check OS compatibility for the exact version you have installed to be certain.
