Netgate 6100 - Physical Port Speed Missing?
-
Being so new to Netgate / pfSense I have no idea if this is limited to my configuration or a bug but the GUI does not show the link speed on the interface I use for WAN. This is awkward for me as my ONT does not distinguish between being linked at 1 GbE or at 2.5 GbE.
The documentation suggests that this information is found in 2 locations - the 'Dashboard' and under 'Status / Interfaces' in the examples below:
On my Dashboard I get only a blank for the WAN but the LANs report correctly:
Same for the Status page:
PEBCAK or bug?

@robbiett
This is a PPPoE interface, nothing physical at all, where pfSense can determine the physical link speed.pfSense might be able to show the link speed of its parent interface though, but this can differ from the PPPoE speed.

Sure but it in this case it is the interface speed for that physical connection. It is a physical interconnect between the router and the modem/ONT.
That it carries a PPPoE tunnel through it is immaterial when it comes to link speed negotiation. I find it hard to see the logic if this is the intended design.

@robbiett
It's not a physical interface, therefore pfSense doesn't show a port speed.If you want to see it assign an interface to the parent port.

Ahh, I've got you. I will give that a try.️
