Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode after upgrade to 23.01
-
Hello, I am having an issue with a Fatal trap 12 everytime I try and access the login web page to the firewall after the upgrade to 23.01. It was working fine before upgrade. I am, unfortunately, using UFS as the file system. Below is the trap message from the system.log file. I am hoping someone can help me with this issue. Or would it be better to use the config.xml file and start with a fresh install. This is on VMware Esxi 6.5 and using the Intel nics and not the vmxnet3. Feb 20 12:15:09 fw kernel:

 No snapshot created before updating?
Running a pfSense at VMware WS here in a test environment I always do a snapshot prior doing major changes.
Best way, to revert if something weird happens.Regards

Same thing is happening to me on 2.6 on several installs built on a Topton Intel N6005 mini PC using Proxmox 7.3. I was thinking it was a Proxmox settings issue of some kind, but I'm seeing a lot of non-virtualized PFSense users have the same issue.

@fsc830 first of all, this is not helpful and disrespectful to all users on the forum. If you cannot provide help or good feedback, I think we can all agree that it you should not post. As for the issue, it was not related to not having a snapshot of it. I did. I thought it would be helpful if I reported the issue and if someone would like to help resolve it. I went ahead and rebuilt it from scratch just to see if it was just a bad setup. I did however import the old configuration. This is still happening on a brand new build with the restore of the old configuation. It only crashes if I try and access the GUI over ipsec VPN tunnel. It does not happen when it is a local. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone at NetGate want the crash report? Eddie

@eddie-raydian said in Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode after upgrade to 23.01: @fsc830 first of all, this is not helpful and disrespectful to all users on the forum. If you cannot provide help or good feedback, I think we can all agree that it you should not post. Second of all, asking, if a backup (or in case of VMware a snapshot) is available is a legitimated question to think about further steps. Cant see, why this should be disrespectful.
But as you desired: I will not post to any of your questions again.
