Incorrect CPU Mhz values
-
Hi,
Not sure if it's being incorrectly reported or whether I have a genuine fault, but my CPU usage always reads like this.Intel(R) Celeron(R) N5105 @ 2.00GHz
Current: 2608 MHz, Max: 1996 MHzIt's always above the max, as of writing this it's Current: 2328 MHz, Max: 1996 MHz
I've have PowerD enabled and have tried changing from adaptive to minimum but it doesn't make any difference.
My previous CPU would run at around 800 Mhz when nothing much was happening.
This is a Topton device, I have messaged them and they said don't worry it doesn't effect the use of the device, which I guess it doesn't but it's still annoying me.
Is there any other way to check the clock speed of the cpu through SSH or something?
I've not installed another OS to check that way as this is the main router for our house so would be disruptive.
Thanks

@rivageeza see if https://www.reddit.com/r/PFSENSE/comments/116mt3w/high_cpu_frequency_after_upgrade_2301/ helps. There are similar threads here a month or so ago but that’s what I found in a quick search.

@steveits Yes!!! That's done the trick thank you. You guys are amazing.
I've set it to 95 but may even nudge it up to 96 or 97 later.
Temps have also dropped about 5 degrees too.
Do I need to file a bug report or is this already been taken care of?

@rivageeza The other thread was https://forum.netgate.com/topic/177918/issues-with-cpu-frequency-after-upgrade-23-01/4. I don't see a redmine link in there.

There's an open feature request for it here: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/14047
