Netgate 4100 rapid white blinking light
-
Hey,
I unplugged the power cord on my 4100 today and then replugged it. I was moving some equipment around. Everything was working perfectly fine before this. After I plug the power back in, literarily 1 second after I plug the power back in, the 4100 starts to blink rapidly white light across all three front LEDs and no network uplink.
I waited for 30-45 minutes and I still had no uplink on any of the network ports. I then connected the USB cable to access the console port. Unfortunately no output. I can't get any sign of life out of the 4100 except for this white blinking light.
I even tried performing a hardware reset but it says I should wait for the circle LED to change from orange to blue. That never happens. It never stops flashing.
Any suggestions on what I can try would be extremely helpful. Thanks :)
Edit: Technically two lights are White with a tint of blue and one light is slightly orange. But they all are stuck in a continuous white blinking loop.

I tried the 4100 with a different power supply. One from a 6100 we just bought last week. Specs are identical so it was safe. And with that everything boots up just fine.
I also noticed that the LED on the power brick for the 4100 does indeed flash too but only while the power cord is connected to the 4100. A funny detail; The flashing brick LED is in sync with the flashing lights on the 4100 itself.
I also tried the defective power brick on the 6100 I have here next to me and that behaves the same way, all flashing and in sync. I assume this means the power supply is bad and need to be replaced. A little sad the power brick only lasted for a few months. I mean the 4100 isn't exactly old.

@kq If it's new open a ticket with Netgate, a hardware problem would likely be under warranty.
Did you connect to the console to see what that says?
From your writeup it sounds like you didn't shut down first (Diagnostics/Halt). Always shut down all devices with a file system. ZFS is less likely to have corruption, they say, but still...
I'm not familiar with the AC adapters for these models but sometimes/often those aren't interchangeable...

@steveits Hey Steve :)
I did shut it down with the halt page. I did try the console cable. Nothing there. I wrote about it on my previous posts too.
The AC adapters are the exact same model with the exact same specs. So in this particular case they were interchangeable, the fact that I was able to get the 4100 to operate normally when I used the 6100 adapter kind of confirms that.
I've bought the appliances through a reseller. I'll try reach out out to them for a AC adapter replacement and see where that takes me.
Thanks for replying.

So you did, if only I could read.

The LED on the PSU should never flash like that.
