Google Pixel IPv6
-
Does anyone else have IPv6 working correctly on a Google Pixel? I've tested IPv6 on other devices on the same VLAN the Pixel is on, and other devices work fine. However IPv6 isn't working on the Pixel. Here are my settings:
Router - Pfsense
WAP - UbiquitiPfsense IPv6 setup:
System > Advanced > Networking
Allow IPv6 - checked
System > General Setup
Google and Cloudflare IPv6 servers entered under DNS Server Settings
Interfaces > WAN
IPv6 Configuration Type - DHCP6
Send IPv6 prefix hint - checked
DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation Size - 60 (ISP is Comcast)
Interfaces > LAN
IPv6 Configuration Type - Track Interface
IPv6 Interface - WAN
IPv6 Prefix ID - 1 (0 is being used for another VLAN)
Firewall > Rules
Allow all rule for IPv6 traffic (I know this is working since other devices on the VLAN are fine)
Services > DHCPv6 Server & RA > DHCPv6 Server
DHCPv6 Server - unchecked
Services > DHCPv6 Server & RA > DHCPv6 Server > Router Advertisements
Router mode - Unmanaged
Provide DNS configuration via radvd - checkedIf I check the IP Address settings on the Pixel itself, it has both a link-local and GUA address. However in the NDP Table on the netgate only a link-local address is listed for the mac address of the Pixel. Other working devices have both a link-local and GUA address in the NDP Table.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

@bob-dig Yes, that's one of the websites I'm using to test.

@clubbing2050 I have two Pixels working fine (test-ipv6.com verified) using Verizon Fios with these settings: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/155534/verizon-fios-and-ipv6-which-settings-work/2

Android doesn't support DHCPv6:

@steveits Correct. I'm not using DHCPv6 on the LAN.

I figured it out. Maybe this will help someone from banging their head against a brick wall in the future. IPv6 worked on my Pixel on my Guest network where my SSID was broadcast. On my private network, the SSID was hidden. IPv6 didn't work on the Pixel.
I unhid my private SSID, and now IPv6 works fine on the Pixel. I don't know if this is a feature or a bug, but either way I don't believe it's related to pfsense. I think it's related to the Pixel itself.

Works fine here with my Pixel 6.

@jknott Same. Figured out the Pixel doesn't like IPv6 on hidden SSID'S. Broadcasted the SSID and all is well now.

Hiding the SSID provides a false sense of security.

@jknott I know
