I have an Intel NUC that has a built on Realtek 8111HN
On latest 1.7dev it does not work well at all and crashes/reboots when I try to send
a lot of traffic through it ~1Gbps NAT.
I can easily and reliably get it to fail just trying to do an Internet speedtest on it.
I am new at this and am not sure what to try next or where to post the crash reports (here?)
I am also unfamiliar with the community's wanting to support (or not support) this NIC.
I actually ordered a bundle of Intel celeron NUC computers assuming they would come with Intel NICs like every other Intel NUC I have ever seen.
I was disappointed and should have researched better :(
At this point I am wondering whether to give up on these (not use them) or try
      to figure Realtek/work-arounds?

I tried loading 2.6.0 and had similar problems.
It does not crash and reboot but it immediately "locks up" and stops passing traffic if I
try do to a speed test through it.
I am testing on out near of box configuration.
When it fails (usually right away) with a traffic test it is no longer pingable on the LAN
at 192.168.1.1 and it's DHCP WAN address disappears as seen on the console.
I understand that for 2.6.0 that there is at least a manual driver change/update required-

I do not wish to waste any time on 2.6.0 and would only want to troubleshoot or proceed
      using 2.7DEV

And of course anything I find (drivers discussions settings etc.) are for 2.6.0 :)

Looking for help & suggestions on what I should do possibly fix this.
I am doing this for enjoyment and learning.
This is not a production box.

The Realtek NIC in question is: Realtek 8111HN

The Computer is an Intel NUC: NUC Kit NUC6CAYH

I feel more like I do now.

@n8lbv My 11th Gen NUC has no problem. I thought the Intel NUC’s only used Intel NIC stuff but stand corrected.

Have you tried loading the actual Realtek driver? Not the one built into PFSense. If not and you probably want to install it, the steps are in a couple of threads in the Hardware section. It’s an easy process unless one is over thinking. The repo’s have been updated so we can use the better driver.

@jimbob-indiana I have not tried loading a different driver yet.
I am new to this and have never done that before.
I need to find out how to do that.
And how to do that on 2.7DEV versus 2.6
Much of what I'm find might only apply to 2.6
            I am not sure.
I'm at this point only guessing that FreeBSD and driver are different for it.

I feel more like I do now.

Sidenote: I used it for 2-3 days thinking everything was fine and well-tested.
With the WAN connected to slower than 100mbps Internet I could not tell there was a problem.
I hooked it to 1GB GB Internet this morning and it literally died :)
Really does not work at all once it gets some higher speed data going through it.
It either crashes and reboots or just dies within a few seconds and is not longer pingable
              on LAN or WAN.
              :)
I am searching around and seeing about how to learn to change the driver in 2.7

I feel more like I do now.

Also notice if I search "8111HN" on the entire forum there only one other post other than my own and it's from 2015.

I feel more like I do now.
