pfsense plus unable to update, missing register menu.
-
Hello,
In my homelab I have a Dell R720 running pfSense Plus (23.01-BETA) which I've added an Intel QAT 8950 to several months ago, I went to check for updates today and it says "Your device has not been registered for pfSense+. Please purchase a pfSense+ subscription at the Netgate store to receive future updates."Additionally the "Register" menu under System is missing and adding "/system_register.php" to the end of the URL doesn't work either.
Both commands "pkg-static -d update" and "pfSense-update -d" fail giving certificate errors.
The update menu lists "Latest Stable Version (22.05) but changing from "Latest Development Snapshots (23.01) to it does nothing. The current base system is 23.01.b.20230106.0600
Also, I'd like to remove an unused pci-e NIC but that seems to stop pfsense from booting.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

@loader Open a ticket.
If your CE->Plus license was done before today's date in 2022 you will need a new token. Because you are running a BETA release you will need to reinstall CE then upgrade from 2.6->23.01. If your token was from before 5/9/2022 you will need a new token as well.Also removing a NIC will cause your NDI to change and thus cause your repo access to be lost

@rcoleman-netgate Thanks for the info, I did the install of CE and upgrade to plus in January this year, I guess I'll have to remove the NIC and do a fresh install, upgrade to plus and hope that I can restore config for the rules and vlans then.

If the NIC you are having trouble with is like em2 and you're using em3 it will change the rules... you'll know immediately after upgrading from 2.6CE to 23.01 where you stand -- and then you can re-import. If the em2/3 thing is your situation then you can find/replace all the em3 references for em2, and then em4 for em3, etc. etc. etc.

@rcoleman-netgate Ah, that makes sense. I was running the 23.01 beta because from what I was reading the Intel QAT adapters didn't work correctly in the 22.x stable build. I'm most likely going to run the 23.05 beta because the inclusion of promiscuous mode means I don't have to again cobble together the pfatt script for the AT&T gateway that lives behind pfSense.
Thanks again! -
@rcoleman-netgate this sounds like my issue. I upgraded to plus when it came out, so i probably need a new token as you say. it is not letting me go from CE to 23.01 after failed 23.05 upgrade.
what do i have to do?
