    PfSense install download -> get uncompressed image

      When I download a pfSense install file, I get an uncompressed img file and therefore the sha256 is different from the one listed on the download page which I presume is the checksum for the compressed file. Is it normal to download an uncompressed image file and if so where I can I get the sha256 sum for it?

        No, you should be getting the compressed file as it is. It's probably your browser that is uncompressing the file for you. Try with another browser.
