      1. Netgate pfSense Plus has detected a crash report or programming bug. Click here for more information. please let me know if a netgate admin can look at my crash log.
      2. Temperature is running around 120°F when the previous OS was around 100°F
      3. some new feature is blocking my home assistant from being able to ping or access a device on the same vlan that was previously working. I confirmed that it is the upgrade by using boot environments to reboot to the 23.01 version, and the problem disappeared. Rebooted again to 23.05 and the problem is back. not sure how to troubleshoot, but I looked at firewall rules, and don't see any blocks at all on that vlan.

I would be grateful for any assistance.

@Cloudless-Smart-Home You can post your log. If it was during the upgrade and doesn't recur it is probably because of the upgrade process and can be ignored.

re: temp, there was a thread on CPU frequency on 23.01 but that's what you had: https://forum.netgate.com/topic/177918/issues-with-cpu-frequency-after-upgrade-23-01/4

re: VLAN, not sure how that's possible as described. Packets within the same subnet don't even go to the router.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

@SteveITS after many hours trying to figure out the connectivity issue 3, it resolved itself as mysteriously as it started. the crash report wasn't generated during the upgrade, it was when I was returning to the 23.05 boot environment. I deleted the crash report and rebooted from 23.05 to 23.05 normal reboot, and no new crashes, so I won't worry about that. not sure how to interpret the cpu freq link, but added the referenced system tunables to see if that helps with clock and temperature, since I am running the same hardware as the thread, I think.

Yeah, if you have a CPU that supports SpeedShift it probably will be running faster/hotter with the default values than when using SpeedStep tuned to reduce power consumption.
