      Hello,

      I have a standby XG-1541 that I'm attempting to install the config from our primary on using the ECL method via USB. I have the config.xml file in the root, in /conf, and in /config. But, none are working to restore the config... Running v23.05

      I did the initial install of pf plus on the standby with the backup config in the installer USB (v23.01) and that worked perfect. However, I'd prefer not to have to update my installer and re-install the entire OS every time I want to update the config.

      Any ideas why this isn't working?

      EDIT: USB drive is recognized (Kingston DataTraveler G3) on boot at usbus0 and it looks like farther down the boot sequence it is assigned "da0". I see the line during boot "External config loader 1.0 is now starting... ada0p1 ada0p2 ada0p4" So it looks like the ECL never looks at the USB drive???

      Thanks

      J

        @j3ffr3y Is it on a FAT partition?

        Can you set up HA so it will both fail over automatically and sync configuration changes in real time?

        Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
        When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

          @SteveITS

          I had done that before. But, it required too many resources (IP's, VLANs, Switches, cables, etc) for our support staff (including myself when it came time to troubleshoot :-)

          It is much easier with a standby for me to tell our techs to just move cables from one to the other in case of a hardware failure...

            It's on FAT32

              SOLVED

              I discovered that if I put the config (both in the root and in \config) on my boot installer, which had the 64MB PFSENSE FAT32 partition, the ECL worked correctly.

              So, I reformatted the USB drive I was working with as a 64MB FAT32 partition (named PFSENSE) and wala, success!

              Previously, the USB drive was formatted to use the entire drive of 4 GB. No idea why reformatting it to a smaller size matters... But, in case anyone else runs across the same problem...
