I'm on 2.5.2 and trying to upgrade from the webconfig.

      Two BRANCH choices are available:

      Latest stable version (2.7.0)
      PREVIOUS version (2.6.0)

Whichever version I choose, it still hangs with the message: "Please wait while the update system initializes"

I tried googling this and most of the solutions I got were for upgrading from 2.4.5 and involved changing the BRANCH.

So, I checked the forum and followed the troubleshooting guide here: https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/troubleshooting/upgrades.html

If I check /conf/upgrade_log.latest.txt it seems all the information there is from my update from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 ages ago. I don't see any errors related to my recent attempts to update to 2.6.0 or 2.7.0.

After logging into the CLI, none of the responses I get from the commands match any of the troubleshooting info. It seems I have a mismatch between the installed Kernel and the packages available?

My reddit post led me to the solution here on the netgate forums:

Yup that should work. There's an issue upgrading from 2.5.2 directly for devices that are not registered for Plus. We are looking into it.
For now upgrading via 2.6 will work.

@stephenw10 The issue wasn't upgrading from 2.5.2 directly to 2.7.0. The issue was that I couldn't upgrade from 2.5.2 to anything - not even 2.6.0. However, I'm now successfully at 2.7.0 (via 2.6.0 first) after following the steps in that link.

Now I'm having issues with another box running 2.4.5p1 that is hanging in the exact same way when trying to upgrade to 2.5.2. Now looking to see if the solution is the same or similar...

Thanks a lot. This worked for me from 2.5.2 to 2.6 and then 2.7.

              Much appreciated.
