Version 1.9 of the OpenVPN Client Export package is now available on Plus 23.05.1 and CE 2.7.0. This version includes several changes, notably the inclusion of client installers for OpenVPN 2.6.5

      • Added OpenVPN 2.6.5 Windows installer support. Issue #13917
      • Retained 2.5.x as 'previous', and 2.4.x as 'legacy'.
      • Updated PKCS#12 export and added an option to control the algorithms used for compatibility with different clients. Issue #13255
      • Renamed OpenVPN connect file from "ios" to "connect". Issue #14202
      • Removed some code only needed for EOL pfSense software versions

I've tried it with several different types of servers in my lab and the exported packages appeared to be OK, they installed OK, connected, passed traffic, etc. So I don't expect many issues, but with any change like this there is always a potential for problems.

One thing I have noticed: If you already have OpenVPN installed, the export package installer for 2.6.x will offer to uninstall the client instead of installing it on top of itself or skipping that step automatically.

You can X out of that part of the installer if you want to leave the currently installed client alone, then it will go on and prompt to do the next part of the process which copies the configuration file into place.
