Hi, I'm trying to find out if this statement is still valid:

      Screenshot 2023-07-16 at 23.54.04.png

My Nokia BGW320-505 provided by AT&T has a 1/2.5/5G Ethernet port available, and I'd like to upgrade from my current 1G service to 2G.

I believe it to be valid because it is a HW change to make it work.
I have not done it, but my solution is to buy a switch with both multi-gig ports and SFP+ ports to do the interface translation.
The concept works, currently my ISP goes to my switch as 1Gb, exits the switch as 10Gb fiber, enters my 7100 on the 10Gb WAN port. pfSense has several VLANs defined that exit on another 10Gb port to enter my switch where the VLANs are distributed.

Some SFP+ Copper work. Not many. And not something to rely upon -- things that didn't work in 22.x work in 23.x and v/v

@pokrifchakd I have zero issues running several brands of them on 7100's. Also 8200's and 6100s. I started with v22 and had no issues updating them to v23.

@Cylosoft Could you provide the make and model number for ones you've had success with? It's probably cheaper than the solution @AndyRH is using, but I'll probably go that route in the long run (gotta save my pennies up).

@pokrifchakd We tried QSFPTEK for Intel E10GSFPT and Mikrotik S+RJ10. Both worked fine. Settled on Mikrotik; they seemed to run a little cooler and slightly better made.

@AndyRH I like the sound of this setup. If I read this correctly, you've bypassed all of the switch ports on the 7100 and are just using the 10G SFP+ via fiber. Time to save up my pennies for one of the multi-gig UniFi switches.
