Will this hardware be enough for pfSense on a VM?

New to pfSense here. I have an existing NAS machine that I use mostly for backups. I was thinking of virtualizing it and adding pfSense to it.
The hardware I currently have is Intel Celeron G4900, Gigabyte B365M DS3H Mobo, 8GB DDR4 RAM non-ECC, a couple of small SSDs not part of the NAS data that I can use for boot etc.
CPU is a Dual core 3.1GHz and supports AES-NI and VT-d as per the specs page
Probably I can add another 16GB to RAM. The Mobo has only one Ethernet port, so I will add an NIC (Intel?)Will this hardware be sufficient to run on VM for a 1Gbps connection to support a home network with 6 users?

Yes, that will pass 1Gbps. I wouldn't expect anything additional to be required just to pass that. If you want to add packages or VPNs etc you may hit a limit there. If you want to add further VMs you may need more RAM.

pfSense will run in 1G without an issue. If you add hungry packages you will need more. I would try it and see. You won't need more than 8G to get up and running.
