      hi my sg5100 died.

      apparently console cant be accessed.

      I wont be able to look at it until I get back in sept and the Ill want to try and salvage the config off it it possible.

      so we restored an older (may) config xml to a spare 5100.

      now I go to buy a new 5100 since our spare is gone and I find that it is discontinued....

      arent there any vendors that still have them?

      and would a different model allow me to simply restore the config.xml?

        @tha The 5100 stopped being sold in late 2021. You can ask nearby partners but it's probably unlikely at this point.

        Yes, you can restore your config to a different model, say a 4100 or 6100. If it doesn't recognize the interfaces from the config file, you'll be prompted to assign them during the restore. Or, you can edit the config file to change the interface names before restoring.

        Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
        When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

          Define "died"

          Because if you have one with an eMMC that has failed there are ways to get it back up, but you may want to expand on that statement.

          Yes it went End of Sale in November, 2021. Remaining stock was sold out by December, 2021, and if you are absolutely dead set on getting another I suggest going through the partners list (as @SteveITS has suggested) or looking at secondary market spaces for a used one.

          The 6100 will very much fill the space your 5100 is leaving, though.

            @tha,

            I got a spare SG-5100 for a good price on eBay last year - YMMV. Of course I don't use the eMMC and immediately put an M.2 SSD in it and loaded ZFS and duplicated my setup on to it.

              I'm willing to sell my 6100 MAX for a fair price. It's less than a year old and I really want to upgrade to an 8200. Please make me an offer it you're interested. I'll throw in the rack-mount kit at N/C.
