      @stephenw10 may i ask why the NICs are a bad choice?

        They have a bad reputation for just stopping passing traffic and for requiring more CPU than other NICs. A lot of that is from the earlier versions. You may have no problems.

          @stephenw10 Do you know a better option with two 1Gb ports connected in a mini pci express port for 50€ ?
          I didn't find a better option.

            Hi, I'm chiming in :-) I dont know where you are located and if this is a option for you:

            Digitus dual PCIe

            Kettop Mi4300YL CPU: i5-4300Y @ 1.60GHz RAM: 8GB Ethernet Ports: 4
            SSD: SanDisk pSSD-S2 16GB (ZFS) WiFi: WLE200NX
            pfsense 2.8.0 CE
            Packages: Apcupsd, Cron, Iftop, Iperf, LCDproc, Nmap, pfBlockerNG, RRD_Summary, Shellcmd, Snort, Speedtest, System_Patches.

              @fireodo Yes, can be. But i prefer the other one because i will use the board in a notebook and the other one has a cable to outside the notebook.
              And needs to be mini pcie otherwise i will need an adapter.

                    No, not for miniPCIe ... :-(

                          Mmm, you can get Intel mPCIe boards but not <50€.

                          You might consider just not using an old notebook at all. They often seem like a good idea but they are not engineered to be always on.
