      Hello all,

I hope this can benefit to anyone having similar issues with their internet connection.

      MY SCENARIO:
Fiber Optic 1Gbps connection going to a fiber/ethernet convertor > going to my pfsense box pci NIC.
      My ISP uses PPPoE

      My Box:

      • AMD A8-6500 APU (had lying around) AES-NI Active
      • 8GB DDR3 ram
      • 2 HDD in ZFS Mirror
      • Dual gigabit PCI card (dunno the exact model, but if needed i can provide) handles WAN and LAN.

      MY PROBLEM:
After installing the box and configuring pfsense properly, I obviously had to peruse thru Reddit to find out which VLAN my ISP handles internet traffic on their backbone.
I have the box running fine for almost 3 years. I installed a bunch of packagess such as HAProxy for reverse proxy my services etc ...

For a couple of months now my internet connection just drops and I am forced to reboot the pfsense box in order for the connection to come back UP again.
This only happens after a solid 1-2 days straight uptime, sometimes even 3-4 days. In some days I have to restart the box multiple times in a day.

I already unchecked the monitoring option on the WAN interface.

My gut tells me it's a hardware problem but I can't figure out what .. I check the logs but there's no info whatsoever.

      Here is my PPP log:
the first few blocks of log entries show unsuccessful attempts to create ppp connection -> jump to the end of the file to see successful connection
      ppp_log.txt

This really is my last chance, after this I will have 2 options:

      • Try a fresh install and configure everything from scratch (maybe a config file causing issues)
      • If that does not work -> New hardware, some more appropriated for networking
