dpinger Stops working
-
Hello,
After a week or two, under my Services Status I noticed my 'dpinger Gateway Monitoring Daemon' stops working or shuts off. Any ideas on a fix for it beside rebooting pfsense. Thanks!

When dpinger stops working the service can't be restarted. This necessitates a full system reboot to restart the service.
I found this reply in another forum helpful. Currently testing pfSense with these new parameters.

So with far higher periods between pings?

@kp206 Go to the gateways logs (Status / System Logs / Gateways) and see what dpinger is reporting when the problem happens, and when you attempt to restart the service.
Assuming that you are not doing multi-wan, two quick questions:
- Do you have an explicit monitor address set for the gateway in System -> Routing -> Gateways?
- Do you have addition of static routes for gateways (System / Advanced / Miscellaneous) enabled or disabled?
