Hello; I was wondering how i can change the opt number on an interface so my CARP can sync settings to the correct interface.

On my backup pfSense. i created the interface in the wrong order and now the opt numbers are off and as a result the carp is syncing settings to the wrong interface. Thank you

Only by manually editing the config. Or by recreating if from the Primary config.
if you do that I would create a minimal firewall ruleset so they can be sync'd from the primary to be sure it's on the correct interfaces.

@stephenw10 Thanks, so is it safe to edit the config.xml and modify just the opt number? for example just swap the numbers around?

Also is there a way to remove a opt number? I had created a new interface and then deleted but then when i make a new one again the number is 7 instead of 6.

          Thanks,

The opt number for the interface is probably the most important value. Everything else references that, firewall rules, NAT rules etc.

That's why you can reassign the interface to a new NIC or rename it and all the config will follow it. If you change the opt number you have to change everything that references it or recreate everything else.

The opportunity for typo'ing something here is large!
