-
I have pfsense installed on a machine in my network rack. After a power outage last night it no longer will boot up properly. I’ve tried to research the error online but I can’t find anything yet. I truly appreciate any help you guys can give me
I’m seeing errors like:

@heathman56 Re-installing pfSense is your fastest bet and seriously consider investing in a UPS...refurbished ones by the manufacturers are usually half the price on eBay. I bought this Cyberpower a few months ago...

@heathman56 Not meaning to kick you when your down, but ups is sort of a requirement with any sort of electronic gear. If you do it right since most networking gear is so low power your ups can prob run your network for 30-60 minutes, if not longer and survive 1st world sort of power outages without ever going down.
I am with @NollipfSense get yourself a ups, or 2 or three even.
Even with journal file systems or zfs, etc.. Abrupt loss of power is never good.. I put a sinewave ups on my tv even.. This drastically reduced the tv just turning off on slight power fluctuations.. And since I have a switch and pi also behind the tv.. Even if power out my tv sill works for good 20 minutes or so..
Most of the time power outages in my area are only a few minutes.. But when they happen my network is still up, and my main pc minus the 2nd monitor are all good for like 30 some minutes before I start shutting stuff down. And if not home they will shutdown proper on their own if power is off for too long.
My aps are all poe, and connected to ups, my directv box is on ups as well, etc. modem, switches, etc..
I don't loose power all that often - but not loosing my network when they do happen is well worth the cost of a ups or 2..
If your pfsense is not booting, do a clean install and restore from backup. ACB that pfsense provides can be a life saver here - I would make sure you take a few minutes and make sure that is running correctly.

Could be a one off power issue.
Depending on where it failed you may be able to recover from single user mode:

Yep. I have 2 UPS here, one for my main computer and one for pfSense, cable modem, WiFi and switch. In fact I had a power failure last week, where my computer shut down after 15 minutes of failure and then the power came back a minute later. After I turned my computer back on, I was right where I left off. My Internet connection never failed, as that UPS lasts longer than the computer one. I use APCUPSD to shut down the computers when needed.
