      Hello,

I performed a firmware upgrade on our core switch that is connected to the LAN side of our pfSense. Apparently, this caused a crash of pfSense. I grabbed the dump files. What can I do to confirm what caused this crash? (Although, I suspect it could be pimd)

      NetGate 1541
      23.05.1-RELEASE
Many VLANs coming over the physical 10G interface connected to the core switch

      Thanks,

      Jeff

Post the panic output and backtrace from the crash here.

Or upload the full crash report here and we can review it: https://nc.netgate.com/nextcloud/index.php/s/qLCpactTN7s7Lme

Yes it's an issue with multicast routing in pimd.

It looks like we have one other report of this in 2.7: https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/14869
The user who opened that marked it private though.

              Thanks for the comfirmation!

I guess until pimd is updated, I'll just make sure to disable it prior to rebooting our switch.

              Thank you,

              Jeff
