Navigating to Buy pfSense +

Send me the order number in chat, I can probably find the NDI from that. But also send me your current NDI so I can check that too.
-
So the free Home/Lab license is not available from Netgate online shop anymore, you need to contact sales via email to get it?

I've probably picked the worst time to change out hardware... I emailed Netgate (albeit sales) about obtaining another pfSense Plus Home/Lab licence and got:
"There has been an administrative change to how Netgate distributes pfSense Plus software. The upgrade from CE to pfSense Plus Home/Lab and TAC Lite is no longer available. The option for TAC Pro and TAC Enterprise are still available. Please select one of the available options at this time. Or you can maintain the install on pfSense CE 2.7.0."
(Emphasis my own)When asking if an activation token can be unregistered and used again, I was told no as they're single use.
What's the pathway for installing pfSense Plus Home or Lab when I technically have a licence/token but am replacing hardware? Need to change out and clean install two boxes (installed in my rack and at a relatives house) but not entirely clear how to do this. @stephenw10 - any guidance?

If you already have current subscription we may be able to do something. Send me your existing NDI or order number in chat and I'll check it.

Does this mean we can finally purchase TAClite licenses for $129.00 / NDI / year ?
Would be awesome š„³
It's been so many years since pfSense Gold was retired.

Not just yet, but maybe.
-
@stephenw10 are these changes the removal of the pfSense+ for home altogether?
-
Not if you have a subscription.
More info should be coming soon.
-
@stephenw10 Ok, I will wait to hear more, but as someone who was about to pull the trigger on new hardware for my current pfsense+ at home, I am concerned.
-
@stephenw10 It will be an official statement ? On Reddit, Lawrence Systems forum, people went crazy.

@stephenw10 I always expected to have to pay for PLUS at some point, but 399 USD pa is unrealistic for a home user. I have a primary and backup, do you think I'm going to pay 798 pa? Netgate is forcing anyone not using your hardware to take out a support contract, which few will benefit from. If you came back with an offer of 50 USD pa for non-commercial use, community support only, I'd take that to avoid having to move to opnsense.
Today you've made me doubt I want your products and I have no faith in CE's future so I'm about to purchase a spare unit to spin up opnsense. If that's what netgate wants, then please put out a clear statement that there is no place for non-commercial users of PLUS. Otherwise please be clear on why others like me should stick with pfSense.

50 bucks was never promised. But $129.00 was promised. Now it seems they won't do that either. Bizarre.

@AMG-A35 Migration to OPNsense in progress....

I would say: dont shoot too fast
Wait and see what Netgate does and then you still can migrate ...
My 2 cents ... -
I'm confused too
I had already prepared management for a yearly cost of $129 for each of my 8 Company boxes, and that amount was ok with them.
And was going to switch those from their current CE 2.7 to PLUS, when a "Whitebox PLUS install image" was officially available.
I doubt i'll be able to "sell" a 8x $399/yr (~$3200) annual cost. What's even worse for me, is that i use PLUS (Home/Lab license) on my two home boxes (+ 2 "Cold" spares).
I will not pay 4 x $399 (~$1600) annually for keeping them alive.
What happened to the "PLUS free for home/lab usage" ???I have downloaded "The Other One" and will have a look (install on a spare).
But if i end up switching to "The Other" at home, i'll probably switch the work ones too.I don't see a future for the CE version (that I'd trust).
Waiting for an Official statement from Netgate.
Before taking any decisions/Bingo

I am really disappointed that there hasn't been an official statement about this. It has never been and will never be a good idea to pull the rug out from the customers and not get any backlash from it. I think they probably knew this was going to be a tough pill to swallow for everyone so they would do it silently and hope for the best.
Unfortunately for netgate I think everyone was on the fence about the changes that happened with the CE and Plus editions and how it was a scam so they can bait and switch a year or so ago. Then we were reassured that Plus would be "free for the foreseeable future". Then growing concern with the CE no longer being developed. All they have done is prove the communities concerns right in their actions and now they will pay for it bit time.
