How do I down load a development snapshot installation binary?
      The download page https://www.pfsense.org/download/
Links to the snap shot down load page https://www.pfsense.org/snapshots/
But that lists "Snapshots installation images are currently offline."

I'm I looking in the wrong place?
Is this likely to be resolved ie how long have they been offline for?

To answer my own question. It appears the installer for the current snapshot can be downloaded from https://snapshots.netgate.com/amd64/pfSense_master/installer/

But older snapshots are not available, limiting the ability of users bisecting to localise bugs.

Are you sure that snapshot image is acutally "current"? Last time I downloaded and installed it in a VM for testing, it was the same actual code as two months or so back. Even though the image is rebuilt each day or so, it's getting built from the same stale (as in not changed) code. From everything I can see, all the recent code updates have been going into Plus and the CE DEVEL snapshot branch has been static.

@bmeeks Oh, that's not helpful of Netgate. Thanks for the heads up, I well have to monitor that to see if it is still the case.

I have been monitoring the official snapshots link you posted in your first message, and that has continued to say "currently offline" for quite some time. That also bolsters my feeling that there are no genuinely new CE DEVEL snapshots being built right now.

@bmeeks Seems to be fixed now as the binaries for the last few days are all different with relevant targeted changes.

Thanks for the update. I will check them out. I have a 2.8 CE DEVEL virtual machine for testing that I broke badly two months ago and just need to re-image it from scratch.

I checked out the latest 10-31-2023 image at the link you shared. It installs and appears to run fine, but you can't install any packages nor update any existing installed ones.

I believe public access is shut down for now as the team is in the middle of merging some base updates from FreeBSD 14 into the 2.8 CE DEVEL snapshot branch. I also guess that effort has taken a bit of a back seat of late as it's probably "all hands on deck" prepping the 23.09 Plus release.

Once pfSense Plus 23.09 releases, I expect activity to resume on the 2.8 CE snapshot branch.
