Feature Request: REST API
-
So, I tried to submit a feature request at https://redmine.pfsense.org but on registering I made a typo on the email address. I asked the moderator to correct via chat and is waiting patiently.
However, I thought in the meanwhile, I could also share here. I believe if pfSense had the API mode as it was once promised, it would be perfect to implement webauthn. I also believe that the public key should be stored on one's firewall instead of in the cloud of others. It could be either an API or somehow implemented with pfBlockerNG...just thinking out aloud, maybe as part of pfSense next-generation firewall approach.
So, I am engaging members to learn what they think as well as obstacles I may not see to its implementation.

Well, now, I know I am not on some firewall drug...here are others wanting or are already implementing some form of web authentication on firewall below. This I believe would enhance pfSense+ offer for the home environment users...

@NollipfSense A bit late, but have you looked at https://pfrest.org/ ? I came across it this evening and am trying to read up on it.

I'm unsure about the plans to roll out the API to CE, but with MiM (Multi instance management) coming to pfSense plus and already getting an API controller (as talked about in their video introducing the upcoming MiM), I'd wait out until all details finally drop about what devices will get it, what's supported with it etc. before running some other package and having to redo everything afterwards. Just my 2c :)
Cheers
