presale question and a rant….

I am planning on getting fiber internet in the spring…. I am looking to upgrade my firewall. My plan is to start out with 1GB for a period of time then drop down to a lower connection rate. Then bump up again as needed.. What Netgate appliance will handle a GB connection? Will the 2100 work?
Second…. A little rant…
I did not see anything like what I am about to suggest…. It would be nice to have a company provide network security that does not get too much into the weeds of setting up a firewall, which can be intimidating. It would be nice to have some typical home scenarios paper/diagrams of various home configurations, like connection speeds/IOT options just some basic drawings on what Netgate hardware to use and best practice configuration diagrams etc…. Like a drawing showing separating the various categories of devices on your network for security reasons. To help decide what to buy and a direction on configuration design to shoot for. Better yet have configuration files or documents a person could download that would get the configuration started..Some basic home user best practices…. It seems like an underserved market in some ways, a more turn-key firewall preconfigured for typical home would be a good thing.. You could come up with 3 to 5 typical home scenarios like a basic just a 100mb internet wifi with phones tv and a computer to a more sophisticated scenario of 1gb connection, a bunch IOT, NAT storage, and even a VPN to connect to the network. It seems to me, each home scenario could have a best practice configuration which could just be uploaded to the device as a starting point.
It just seems to me the whole firewall purchase for the average home owner could be made a lot simpler…. The whole home internet/wifi security market is way underserved from what I can tell and a company providing almost turn-key solutions has a wide open opportunity. The downside I suppose could be a significant growth in support issues, there could be ways to manage that…. Am I wrong in that these unsecured home networks can be hosts hackers code to do DOS attacks etc. It seem like it is in all our best interests to start encouraging home owners into considering better security not only for themselves but the health of the internet in general…. You could come up with a whole new category of devices and call it HomeGate…. sounds good to me…..
Anyways that’s my rant….

You will want a 4100 if you have a true 1Gbps WAN. The 2100 usually tops out at ~750Mbps though there are quite a few variables.
If you want to run any packages or VPNs etc that will reduce the throughput.

@dch22023 I use to get denial of service attacks non stop at home do to what I did for work. I couldn't even watch a steaming video. That on top of working 16s in Chicago would drive me bonkers. Fast forward to today I have a SG2100 and I never have issues anymore the firewall takes care of all of it. I run mine on a DSL line it's fine for what I need.
