Recently Netgate introduced a new licence model and since than as private user I am lost.

Since I understand the reasons behind TAC-lite, I am willing to pay a reasonable fee for using pfSense+

However, not without a good understanding of what the difference of pfSence+ vs pfSense is and will be in the foreseeable future. I also want to know what the consequences are in case of changing hardware and changing back from pfSense+ to pfSense.

In more detail I described my concerns in an earlier post (General pfSense Questions; TAC-lite; Some questions and concerns)

What ever, at the moment I do not feel comfortable. I stick with 23.09 RC not knowing how to proceed, not even knowing if 23.09 stops working without TAC-lite licence if I upgrade to the release version.

If you can 'see' 23.09 available then your sub is current and you can upgrade to it.

Send me your NDI in chat and I can check it for you.

@louis2 re: changing hardware; as I understand it the NDI is based on MAC addresses, so changing NICs will change your NDI, and invalidate the license.

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.
