Fail upgrade but...

Yesterday I updated my sg1100 from 23.5.01 to 23.9.01.
The update did not go well, the 1100 crashed during reboot. Customer service promptly sent me the file to reinstall pfsense.
Before reinstalling I wanted to do an empirical test, I disconnected power and rebooted 1100. It restarted but with version 23.5.01.
What could have happened? Do I still install the 23.9.01 provided by customer support?

Yes I would reinstall 23.09.1 to be sure you have a clean system.

I am not very experienced, the idea of reinstalling scares me a bit. This morning I couldn't access the administration web page, I had a 502 bad gateway.
I managed to connect with the serial port, ran pkg-static info -x pfSense and saw that some packages were 23.09.1 and some 23.05.1. I upgraded with pkg-static upgrade and everything seems to be fine at the moment.
