WAN has IP addresses, but no internet
-
I have pfsense setup on new system, configured it as my ISP requires for third party. When rebooted pfsense, it had obtained my IPv4 static IP, and a v6 address. It managed to pull down pfsense update. But there is no internet for LAN.
I can access webgui fine from LAN

Check your DNS Resolver status.
-
I have checked, and it is showing no timeouts on anything. Low pings on stuff.
I do notice it says in interfaces that wan is up, and my correct static IP ...237, but under gateways WAN_DHCP has ...238. could that be an issue?
-
@ptchernegovski your gateway is different than your WAN IP.
Can you Diagnostics/Ping by IP e.g. 8.8.8.8?
Is your gateway showing as up or down?
-
@ptchernegovski said in WAN has IP addresses, but no internet:
it had obtained my IPv4 static IP
It won't 'obtain' a static address, you would have to set it.
Gonna assume you did that since you said it updated.
So do as SteveITS said, can you ping addresses from pfSense and from a pc on LAN?
Can you ping domain names, ie google.com, from pfSense and LAN connected devices? -
Some ISPs will offer a 'static IP' but hand it out via DHCP. So more of a static lease.
Connections work from pfSense itself but not from LAN could be outbound NAT issues. Make sure outbound NAT is set to auto or hybrid and the generated rules are correct.
It could also just be a firewall rule on LAN not passing it. It will pass by default there though so it's unlikely unless you've added rules on LAN.Steve

@stephenw10 thanks, looks like it was a NAT issue. Is all up and running now with internet working.
And yes, I have a static IP from my ISP, lookslike used the wrong term in my post, thanks for correcting.
Now to just try figure out why I am assigning static IP's on my lan against machines, and they are not using them when I reboot. -
They should use them when they try to pull a new lease. So if the client is rebooted it should pull the new static lease.
