      I have a legacy Netgate SG-2440 appliance that just stopped working one day. It is long since off warranty and support, but I hope I can revive it somehow.

      The device is not functional in any way other than I can power it on and the status light indicators all work. However, after plugging in power, it automatically powers down on its own after 5 minutes. This time is consistent following several tests to validate. There is no output to a serial console connection, so I have no way to see what's going on under the hood with the boot process. The LAN port does show activity when plugging in a laptop, but that's about it as there is no way to access the admin interface.

      It uses an AC power adapter model A2-50S12R-Y, but seems to be working fine, but I do not have an alternative adapter to test with in case power is somehow related to this problem.

      I am assuming this is a system board problem, but do not see any obvious issues with it.

      I would appreciate any experience, insight, or guidance to troubleshoot further and determine root cause.

      Best regards,
      Michael

        What colour(s) does the status LED show?

        If it never turns green it's almost certainly a hardware issue and cannot be corrected without replacing the board unfortunately.

          @stephenw10

          Thanks for your reply, Steve. The status light is red, and never turns green. It looks like I need to hunt down a replacement board. It is unlikely that will be possible, or even a cost-effective endeavor which is indeed unfortunate.

          I appreciate the advice.

          Best regards,
          Michael

            Unfortunately that's probably true. You could contact our sales and see if they have any repair boards remaining. However at this point the cost of that vs a newer device is unlikely to be viable IMO.

              That's a great idea! I may just get lucky with a spare board laying around with a last-ditch-effort on this.

              Much appreciated, Steve!

              Best regards,
              Michael
