IGMP proxy no longer works reliably after 2.7.1 update

@michmoor said in IGMP proxy no longer works reliably after 2.7.1 update:
A few weeks ago or maybe a month when this issue was brought up I did post a link here that outlines what the supported packages are in pfsense
https://www.netgate.com/supported-pfsense-plus-packagesThere are caveats to this list but the main point being if your package isn’t here it’s not supported. If it is here AND it explicitly states it is supported by Netgate then it’s good to install otherwise stay away from any package .
I agree with all points here and communication should’ve been clearer. Let’s hope they are reading this and provide an update.
The point is, igmpproxy is included(in this case without any addon/package installation), so we can assume its fully supported by the whole appliance.(and changes tested against!)
For sure Netgate are not the maintainers of igmpproxy, but it has to be tested against the changes and in this case something in pfsense-(hardened?)kernel was missing obviously
And if something got broke, a fix must available shorter timelines, esp when its an primary feature for most home users, with payment or not.
The handling of such problems makes the difference of an project claiming "Pro" abilities.
And we use the software cause we believe in the vision of "pfsense", not simply cause its "free"!And as my personal statement, if i had an subscription plan with Netgate, i wouldnt be just any person. I would be really angry now! Netgate had to fix it in hours cause the new kernel broke the usage, maintainer of this package or not.
Its an routing, firewalling internet appliance, home and business case use...iptv is as much part of this game as firewalling or an vpn-endpoint it doesbtw THX Rai80 for the download (fyi got an trojan message from malwarebytes for this download)
-
Now the interesting part would be to observe how Netgate handles this situation if a paying customer opens a ticket. Anyone up for it?

Does anybody know of the igmp proxy for iptv has been fixed in de dev channel 24.03?
And does anybody have a newdownload link for the kernel patch from Kristof for version 23.09.1? -
@Tilburg-013 I have the 23.09.1 patch and have it running satisfactorily. Just send me a private chat message with your email address.
-
@haraldinho Thank you, i send you a private message

Since it seems like it will take a 'very long' time until this will be fixed and a system patch is not possible for this issue .. is someone able to provide me with a link to a patch please? I'm running 2.7.2 and my household is getting little bit annoyed with the ongoing issues with IPTV :).
Thanks!

You can download it via this link: https://cloud.tomatotec.ch/index.php/s/9fLQyz46HHqdqPf

Thanks, downloaded and installed. For future updates, I can follow the default process and it will overwrite this upgrade package I assume?
Will test later today if IPTV now works again without issues. -
@ninin06 could this patch also be installed on a Netgate SG3100 appliance, which is ARM based?
-
no, this patch is x64 only.
-
@mistergefahrensucher thx, too bad. Really hope they release soon.

The kernel patch pfSense-kernel-pfSense-2.7.2.r.20231212.1754.pkg worked like a charm, thanks guys i can now get out of my hole and confront my family again ;-)
-
From which safe source can I download the package for pfsense+?
And how do I install it? (pkg install xxx.pkg?)
-
You can download it from here. I downloaded the kernel files directly from Netgate and made them available here. In the meantime, the kernels have been downloaded several times :)

@Tilburg-013 I guess so as the associated bug https://redmine.pfsense.org/issues/15043 has been closed with 24.03 as the target release. You can also see the release overview here: https://redmine.pfsense.org/projects/pfsense/roadmap#pfsense-plus-24.03
