      Hello,

I used to be able to ping my cable modem at 192.168.100.1, but now this doesn't work. I found a post "Accessing a CPE/Modem from Inside the Firewall" but it looks like the recipe is using a PPPOE connection which I don't use. I also use an XG-7100 and my wan port connects to VLAN 4090 on lagg0 (WAN).

Is it possible to configure pfSense with this recipe to connect to 192.168.100.1 when my primary lan is 192.168.92.x and I am using an XG-7100 with the vlan lagg. I have open ports on an add on nic and a second ethernet port on the modem. Do I need to run a second patch cable to make this cleaner?

      Thank you!

You shouldn't need to add a second connection.

You won't be able to if you have a local subnet including 192.168.100.1 on any other interface.

You may need to add an IP Alias VIP to the WAN of, say, 192.168.100.2/24 so that the firewall has an IP when the WAN is down. You might also need an outbound NAT rule for traffic from internal interfaces to the modem specifically.
