      Hi,

      I am trying to get one of these MF823 modems working (as a failover / backup connection - it was supplied as part of my Vodafone FTTH broadband package) - it's listed on the supported hardware page...

      I get the ue0 network adapter, but it shows as no carrier and I can't get it to connect:

      : ifconfig ue0
      ue0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> metric 0 mtu 1500
              description: WWAN
              options=80000<LINKSTATE>
              ether b0:0a:d5:fc:dc:bb
              inet6 fe80::b20a:d5ff:fefc:dcbb%ue0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x9
              media: Ethernet autoselect
              status: no carrier
              nd6 options=21<PERFORMNUD,AUTO_LINKLOCAL>

      The modem works out of the box on Ubuntu and Windows without any configuration / steps...

      Any ideas?

        You may still be able to use ppp to connect if it exposes a serial interface too.

        Otherwise you would have to make some settings in the modem that stick That might have to be in a windows driver/utility.

          Looks like you can add a usbquirk to make it start in ppp mode:
