Random monitoring data loss on Netgate 1537
-
My monitoring graphs will randomly stop working so I get periods with data holes. The firewall itself is running just fine, but all monitoring data in 0.
Here is an example of the processes monitoring graph for the last week:Any idea what causes this and how to fix it?
-
Are you using RAM disks? Did the firewall reboot at those times?
-
I am not using RAM disks and the firewall was not rebooted.
Current uptime is over 25 days. I updated to 23.09.1-RELEASE then.
I had that issue with the previous version as well (22.05-RELEASE). -
So it shows no data in those gaps. Does it show no data on any of the graphs?
The data is updated periodically by the updaterrd script. If that is stopped for some reason you would get gaps in the data until it's restarted. Is there anything logged in the system logs at the point it stops recording data?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. I did modify limiters and the XMLRPC sync followed successfully.
But I do that very often so if that was linked id expect many more holes. Also I just noticed that every graph looses data at the same time but not the temp sensor graph.
Its still dropping some data, but not at the same time as other graphs. The graphs all come back up without me doing anything deliberate to restore them.

That thermal graph is from Jan 19th. Are you sure that's still logging at all? If some sensors were added or removed you may need to reset the thermal data so it starts pulling only current sensors.
-
Thanks for the help.
I will try that in two days when I don't have hundreds of users in the building. -
You should be able to just remove the system-sensors.rrd file from /var/db/rrd then resave the rrd settings to restart the process.

May I kindly ask (just for my curiosity) if you use the english GUI on your pfsense or a translated one?
Thanks
