Proxmox GUI on lan won't work
-
Hello I have a pfsense firewall vm on proxmox with a NIC passed through to it but for some reason I cannot access the proxmox gui on the lan side even though my proxmox is connected to the LAN side, I have also bridged my ports on my NIC , I have checked the logs and it coming back with this:
-
Are those public IPs? If not there's no need to redact them.
When you click on the red X there what rule does it show blocking that traffic?

@jhmc93 By default Proxmox uses static IP on the main interface. Have you checked out what IP it has set (or did you change it?). Is it within the correct domain?
You can change it to dhcp to recieve an IP from pfsense by editing /etc/network/interfacesWhat do you mean bridged ports on your NIC? Are you referring to Proxmox?
If so, that is the normal way of creating ports that can be used for VM's and Proxmox itself. And vmbr0 is typically being used by Proxmox and the IP which you use to access the UI. -

Could this be your problem...see image...since Proxmox 8, when you create a node, it automatically creates a firewall. It doesn't affect the first login; however, if one doesn't uncheck options > firewall, it's certain you won't be able to login the next visit?

Solved I created a floating firewall rule between my internal LAN's and it solved the problem

Cool...it would be kind to show your rule for others who run into this issue...

Don't know about that... sounds to me like the initial problem simply was related to having proxmox on a separate subnet. Which was not clear from the question or the picture... since IP's were redacted. Plenty of instructions to set up VLAN's and creating rules to pass and/or block traffic between them.
With Proxmox on the same subnet, there is no reason hatsoever why it shouldn't be accessible...

Thought your Proxmox's management was already on the same LAN as pfSense. I run Proxmox on Virtualbox on my MacBook pro so I can look at Proxmox's interface wherever I am be it home, coffee shop or friends (just change the IP) to help others, hence the picture.
