      Hi everyone,
I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this. I have an older XG7100 unit that was originally running 2.4.4-RELEASE-p1. I followed the upgrade guide by removing all third party packages and was able to successfully update to 2.4.5_1. I then received a notice that 22.05 was available; however, after attempting to install the update via the GUI, I could see the page was trying to load for about 5 minutes. Eventually, it changed to a blank page with the following URL :https://myinternalip/pkg_mgr_install.php.
I let the system sit there for about 20 minutes but nothing changed.

Another issue I noticed: when going into System-->Updates, the page no longer pulls any update information. It is just sitting at "retrieving" with a yellowing spinning gear icon.
The firewall itself appears to be running OK, but I would like to get it on the most recent update that is available.
I would appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have. I do have multiple backups of the config (including an AutoConfigBackup). Worst case, I can try a clean install; however, I would prefer to update via the GUI if possible.

      Thank you for your assistance!

@vividIT rather than upgrading through several versions Netgate will tell you to reinstall fresh and restore the config from backup. It will also get you ZFS.

This is not the Netgate model correct?

Pre-2.7.2/23.09: Only install packages for your version, or risk breaking it. Select your branch in System/Update/Update Settings.
When upgrading, allow 10-15 minutes to restart, or more depending on packages and device speed.

Yes, I would also just install 23.09.1 clean and restore the config into it.

The one thing I would check is the current Coreboot it's running. System > Netgate firmware update. You may need to update that first.

            Hi Steve,
Thanks for the info! It is actually a Netgate XG-7100 unit (the desktop version).

            @stephenw10
I checked the "Netgate Coreboot Upgrade" section and I do see an update is available (the current version is: 01.00.00.10 whereas the updated version is 01.00.00.11). Is upgrading the firmware via the GUI the recommended method? My concern with doing it through the GUI is the regular System update page seemed to be having issues on our unit so I want to make sure I don't somehow brick the firmware itself on the device :)

@vividIT Ah, I was tired and on my phone and didn't notice the forum category. Sometime last year I answered two posts for not-a-Netgate-7100 IIRC.

              Anyway reinstall from https://docs.netgate.com/pfsense/en/latest/solutions/xg-7100/reinstall-pfsense.html

I'm not aware of a way to update firmware besides the GUI.

@vividIT said in Issue with Updating XG7100 to 22.05:

Ah then you will need to upgrade at least the package before updating Coreboot. The current version is: 01.00.00.20
However there is an issue with updating it from 23.09.1. I suggest installing 23.05.1, upgrading the Coreboot version from the included package, then upgrading to 23.09.1 from there.
