    When connecting a LAN port on a 2100 to an unmanaged TrendNet 24 port GB switch, I lose my network

      I have had a new 2100 since last July 2024. It replace a much older PFSense FW that lasted for many years. My network is as follows: TMobil 5G router -->2100 --> TrendNet 24 port switch--> All of my internal devices. This worked fine until 5 days ago. I ended up flashing the firmware, and all was OK...but ONLY if my computers are plugged directly into one of the 4 LAN ports on the 2100. If I try the previous configuration, of plugging a single Cat5 from my 2100 Lan1 (or any other LAN port), to my TrendNet, the network fails. I cannot ping the 2100 nor does DNS work. If I disconnect the TrendNet and reconnect a couple of PCs directly to the LAN side of the 2100, the network is restored.
      In reading the documentation, I'm wondering if I should create a Vlan on one of the LAN ports? However, if I do this, I have to also change the subnet. The one suggested is 192.168.100.1. I really don't want to do that...but if that is the answer...
      Hopefully, I have provided enough info for someone to point me in the right direction. I'm surprised I couldn't find this subject already answered. I would think it would be common...?

        What firmware on what device?
        Network restored meaning your switch ist making no trouble afterwards?
        Did you try a reset of your switch?

          @the-other HA! time machine indeed. :)

          Flashed the firmware on the 2100... with PFSense support help.

          I've bounced the switch many times... :(

          When I unplug the cable to the TrendNet switch the network returns. BTW that switch is also new since last July

            Could it be the link speed negotiation?
            What are your setting there? Auto or something (GBit LAN?) fixed?
            Switch (I did not search your devicec...) somehow in dhcp server mode as well?

              @the-other Thanks. the interface is set to auto... the TrendNet will auto negotiate at whatever is needed up to GB speeds

              Bouncing the TrendNet makes everything work...for about 5 minutes... this is driving me crazy
