Hmm, that all looks OK. Even got great load spreading across the CPU cores.

It would be interesting to see what is shown as generating that load during the speed test.

Was that just a test against fast.com? That showed ~400Mbps?

That would be a surprisingly high load for 400Mbps. I would expect that CPU to pass 2.5Gbps but it couldn't if that loading is accurate.

            Hi:

            That was during the test.

I have even changed cables from even better sources, but still nothing between ISP and the firewall. I tested a few minutes ago to copy from files from a NAS on OFFICE to a NAS on LAN via a laptop in wireless and it got as high as 600mg transfer. (My other nas is on a slow USB drive.).

So I know that on my network side I'm pretty good. But ISP side to firewall is not so much.

            Thanks

That was via WIFI? Or just initiated via WIFI?

I'd expect to see close to 1Gbps if that's all wired.

I used wifi, I will run a new test with the laptop directly connected.

I will post in a few.
                Thanks

                  Sorry for delay:

                  So I did the following:

                  1. Plugged a cat 7 cable from my dell 15g7 to the port 4 on the firewall and checked using fast.com. The port switched to 1000mb. Then ran fast .com and got 580 megs down.
                  2. on same machine, switched to a usb-c/usb 2.5gb connector (Plugable) and tried again and got just 480.
                  3. Did iperf3 from laptop to firewall, using plugablle e2500 only 350mb
                  4. same test iperf to firewall, using laptop 1gb, got 692mb
5)using laptop wireless with iperf to firewall 350.
                    6)laptop wireless did fast.com 420

Looks like there is something missing here.
Im planning to move my wires this weekend, lets see what happens.
                  THanks

What does your state table look like? One area I am wondering about is GUI based connections. Example 192.168.1.1:portnumhere
how many connections are you running normally? What is your MTU set as is it default? Do you use DNS on the firewall to resolve or is it being sent off?

                    what does pftop show also?

Have you proven that USB adapter can actually pass 2.5Gbps (or even close). Many USB Ethernet adapters cannot.

If I connect the NAS (1Gb, The 2.5Gb switch and this Card and transfer files from the NAS to the drive on the laptop or using the built in realtek card on the laptop I get around 985mgs during the transfer. If I connect the NAS to my other VLAN and do the same transfer I get also around 985(Laptop to 2,5gb switch, to firewall, to a vlan , then to the vlan were I have the nas. )

So Internally I can do up to 985mbs. but connecting I do not get more than 600 at best.

Im going to do a test disconnecting everything and running from the modem and then using the eero and then using the 2,5gn lan card.

                            Ok, so I learned this:

I have to contact ISP for speed test from them.

I changed a couple of the cables. cat 7 from Best buy and some cat 6a.
Moved the configuration around a bit.
Connected the EERO6e directly to the modem with cat 5a,6 and 7 and the speed stay around 1gb. (Cables are 50 feet long.
I connected the modem directly to a dell gaming 15 with a gig connection and 6 ft of cat 6e cable and the cat 7 but speed remained around 500. I time got to 600gb
I tried the plug able adapter I have for 2.5gb and the most I got was 400mb. Even after re installation of drivers.

I will have to approach this a bit differently now.

                            Thanks,

I will update when I get hold o f the ISP.
                            .

                              Update:

So I had the ISP check connection, speed up to the modem is ok, just a bit more noise than usual. A 20 feet piece from the outside box to were the mode is will be replaced.

But that's all they found. I'm getting over 85 % of the advertised speed. If I want more speed, I will need to upgrade to their full 2.5gb that will require 10gb cards and other connection changes. My connection with the modem and the EERO 6 reports 1.2 down, but if I change the short cable to the 50 foot cable I get 982. My cables for this task are cat 7 or cat 6e. Same result on both.

SO I guess, I will wait until I decide to upgrade.

                              Thanks all.

                              .

@rfpa1 I hate to tell you this, I would just get an Official Netgate appliance and that would fix the bandwidth issues, as it would ship to you to spec of what you purchased, and it would have pfSense plus with Boot Environments, and cloud backup and support too.

If you receive this message, thanks

After some time, I replaced the drive for a larger one. Downloaded and reinstalled the software and contacted the ISP, ISP must have done something because now I do get the advertised speed of 1.2 gb.

From the PFbox I see the ports a 2.5gb on the incoming and the port were I have a 2.5gb switch. Also speed test report 1.1 to 1.18 most of the time now.

                                  Thanks
