Re: Speedtest CLI. Run speedtest on pfSense box
As the non official verion of the speedtest cli has the limitation of only selecting and testing on 10 servers that are in most cases not the best for your location. This can result to poor test results. I made a new widget and install/uninstall instruction for using the official speedtest.net cli. Thanks for the original author for the inspiration to build this new version.

Just confirm that works on pfSense CE 2.7.2-RELEASE

Just following installation instruction on GitHub.

        [UPDATE]
Let’s note Speedtest are ONE-STREAM app, so if someone need to test multi-WAN egress connection bandwidth, better to use iperf3 (now in v3.1)

        Thank You so much!

        P.S.
Could You be so please to make Settings “Start on Dashboard loading” checkbox to REDUCE DASHBOARD WHOLE LOADING time: especially when a lot of other widget exist, like checking updates, fw/IDS/IPS logs, RSS, BSD system parameters, etc…

Does this work as expected in pfSense 2.8.0?

@ameinild my pfsense is upgraded to 2.8.0 and everything still works as normal. Mentioning the version during install as i described in the instructions are still needed when installing on 2.8.0

@Sergei_Shablovsky thanks for the response. I did make this mainly for home users that want to test their wan connection provided by their isp. My reason for not using iperf is that there is no public iperf server close to evry user. The wide spread public server infrastructure is important for such wan test. When doing internal tests setting up iperf outside the router is much easier and better. For the onload setting. This addon hardly causes delays because it just shows the old values on start. You need to start measurements manual and i am not going to automate that because too much measuring is bad. When you measure you use up all your bandwidth. So you should only use it when that is not a priblem.

@ameinild Yes, I just confirmed at home that it is still working. I had some icon error right after install, but this seems to be fixed now. 👍
