my actual ISP is cable connection

but now since yesterday my ISP come to install to me the optical fiber (500 mbs). the router from the ISP is Nokia ONT XS-010X-Q
      https://www.al-enterprise.com/-/media/assets/internet/documents/nokia-ont-xs-010x-q-datasheet-en.pdf

i will need help. i will have to change the WAN config. is there a guide for that? the tech support from the ISP told me that i will have to create a vlan ID ( i have the passwd and username)

      thanks

@nadvig23 said in netgate sg-2100 & Nokia optical fiber:

i have the passwd and username

        That implies a PPPoE WAN?

What type of WAN are you using currently?

        Steve

Ok and the new connection is PPPoE with a required VLAN?

Well you first need to know what type of connection it is. Your ISP should provide you with that info. Or it may be available in the ISP provided router. Or it's probably common;y known among other users.

Given that they gave you a username and password it's probably PPPoE. But it could be one of the more obscure types.

@nadvig23 Little surprising (if you previously had DHCP via your ISP's Modem) that they changed the connection type to PPoE to go along with a fiber ONT upgrade but... agree that username/password/VLAN sounds like that could be the case.

So, although you may have a different ISP, this guy seems to have gone through a similar situation and he documented his steps pretty well here:
                    https://ratil.life/pfsense-with-centurylink-1gb-fiber/

                    Maybe that helps?

Yup pretty much exactly like that assuming it's a PPPoE connection.

i have asked some question to the tech support of my isp. wait their return.
probably sure that it's a PPoE.
